I still wonder where I might be had yoga not found me? My life hasn't been a smooth ride, by any measure. A lot of that I can contribute to poor choices early in my life, which yielded more hurdles and more poor choices. One day (literally in Sept 1987) I found myself enrolled into a yoga class and went along to accompany someone else, who I had very wisely suggested needed yoga! I had no idea what I was walking into but the overwhelming feeling was that I had come home.
There started a journey of mammoth proportions, it was like walking into the 'house of mirrors', looking at myself from every perspective until I finally found an element of peace.
Now in my 30th year of teaching, I feel immense clarity, however I know that if I don't keep polishing the mirror, the dust will collect and my inner view will be clouded over. Yoga is not a quick fix and it's effect lessens over time, should you drop off the path.
I am coming out of a period of gentle and short practices to top me up, honestly it's all I've been able to muster. As I move towards winter, I am receiving strong messages to get cracking and amp it up, build strength and clear out the dross and mud, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The challenges are starting to move in my way and I am needing to work a little harder for the same results.
2019, so far, has shown me that it's taking no prisoners, the lessons are big ones and we need to keep our eyes and hearts on the 'prize' (inner peace, clarity, compassion, freedom)
So this May, (I have done this many times) I am planning an intense practice and health regime to clear out (on all levels) and support my immune system for the winter months ahead.
Usually I would do this quietly on my own, sometimes family have joined me, occasionally clients have got on board but it has been loose, no boundaries and we do at our own pace...
This week I open up the 'cyber' doors and make my May cleanse a course that you can do in your own home, with lots of guidence.
